Magazine

The Challenge

How do you make a sports magazine that stands out?

With Charlotte continuing to grow more each year, I wanted to design a magazine that could be used to talk about everything happening here with a style that could be quickly recognized no matter the subject.

MOODBOARD

Malika Favre & Christoph Niemann are big inspirations for me and I gathered a lot of inspiration from their art styles. I also did a lot of research in book store magazines for layout inspiration.

My Solution

Design a illustrated cover that captures the moment

Design a illustrated cover that captures the moment

The New Yorker is known for their illustrated style covers to support the news that lies in their magazines no matter the subject. I wanted to give Charlotte their own branded magazine as a source for discovering all the news of the city.

DESIGN ELEMENTS

Photos utilized within this magazine were gathered from the Carolina Panthers website to stay cohesive with their brand & media.

The Outcome

A magazine that represents Charlotte in a fun, collectable way.

This is a design is meant to work for multiple subjects and for this volume in particular, breaks the typical sports covers you'd see on shelves. The illustrative style makes The Charlotter collectable and recognizable no matter where it is displayed.
